It's pretty ironic and sad how our priorities every so often back-fire. A lot of parents I know will work from morning till night every day to provide the best future for their children, yet by doing this they may be hurting their children more than assisting them. You see, financial security is important, but it isn't the most meaningful factor in a child's development. Children need constant interaction, both with other kids and their parents. This is, after all, how they learn and develop in the first years of their lives - some-thing that will affect them for the rest of their days. If you can not read to your children every night, they will have a much harder time learning to read when they get to school. This is the reason kids audio books can be such a good idea.

The first time I purchased my children audio books on cd was when I was going on a business trip for a few weeks. I had been reading to my daughter from the same book every night for a week or two, and we were almost halfway finished with it. She was very sad to see me go, and I knew that she would really miss that story. On a whim, I went to the local audio book store and found out that I could get a copy of it. At first, she was a tad nervous about listening to the children audiobook. She explained to me that she wanted to hear me reading it, not some tape recorder. Nevertheless, when she puzzled out that I was not going to stay it doesn't matter how much she begged and pleaded, she relented and decided to listen to the children audio books.

She actually really enjoyed it. I like to think that she still likes the way I read more than she enjoys children books on cd, but I bet it is a close-call. The children audiobook readers are excellent. My diction is not bad, and I'm a pretty expressive reader, but these are true skilled performers. Your average run of the mill father just simply can not compete! They know precisely how to read children books to make them exciting and engaging, keeping your kids on the edge til the very last page. Although my little girl is still unhappy when I leave town, the children audio books make my trip just a bit easier on her. Both of us are very pleased about that.
