An Alcohol Dependent Person Registers For Rehab And Receives Alcohol Detox And Treatment For His Alcoholism
Donald used to talk big to his friends how he could work at a 40 hour per week job and get smashed virtually every night. Regrettably, after involving himself in this destructive lifestyle for roughly four years, he started to exhibit various alcohol related problems.
For example, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so sleepy when he got up. Furthermore, just about every morning Donald experienced a dreadful hangover. Undoubtedly, the combination of his lack of get-up-and-go and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To add fuel to the fire, nearly a week ago he got his third driving under the influence arrest in the past thirteen weeks.
To compound things further, at his place of employment his last two work assessments were less than acceptable. And lastly, his three-year relationship with his girlfriend had declined due to his angry outbursts, depression, lack of patience, and his financial difficulties.
Though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he simply began to look like he was in his late forties. Unfortunately, this is what abusive and careless drinking can do to a person. And from a realistic perspective he grasped the fact that he was suffering from the negative outcomes of alcoholism or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to squander his life to irresponsible and hazardous drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Sadly, he soon realized that he lost all control after ingesting his first drink. Since this was an incident that was repeated every single time he drank, this obviously worried him a great deal. In truth, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.
After going over his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and excessive drinking with his lady friend, he eventually made up his mind to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare practitioner. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he genuinely mentioned that he has been drinking in an excessive manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to abstain from drinking. He then said that drinking responsibly and in moderation does not work for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health issue was adversely affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His doctor referred Donald to Doctor Lenson, an alcohol and drug addiction specialist, who influenced Donald to enter into an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get medical attention for his depression at this facility.
After five months of intensive treatment, Donald left the residential rehab facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient therapy. Encouraged to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a gym and started working out two or three times per week. Within nine months Donald was a new man. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most significant of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also did not resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more compassionate person in his relationship with his girlfriend. In brief, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
