A Young Man Gets A "Driving Under The Influence" Arrest And Makes Up His Mind To Hire A DUI Attorney

Although Franklin wasn't a lawyer, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a "driving under the influence" arrest, represented himself in the local court, paid two thousand dollars in fines and penalties, and served 30 days in the city jail. As he mentioned to his son, after he got out of jail, he found out from an attorney friend that had he hired a DWI lawyer in the first place, he probably would have had his penalties and fines considerably reduced and he might have never served any time in the county jail.

When Lawrence heard this he knew he needed more DUI facts and so he asked his father for more information about what a DWI lawyer can do in a "driving under the influence" arrest. His father then articulated the following: "Many if not most DUI attorneys will do everything they can to help you when it comes to your DUI arrest. To prevent you from losing your driver's license and to keep your record 'clean,' DUI lawyers start by believing that you shouldn't have been arrested. With this clearly in their minds, they will 'fight' for you and for your legal rights."

When Lawrence heard his father explain this, it was as if his eyes were opened for the first time about the critical nature of hiring a DUI attorney. Near the end of their discussion, Lawrence mentioned that he was starting to comprehend more about "driving under the influence" laws and what "drunk driving" attorneys" can do for an individual who has received a DUI arrest.

After getting "schooled" about "driving under the influence" arrests, the role of "drunk driving" attorneys, and understanding that he didn't have to agree to take any field sobriety tests at the time of his arrest, Lawrence made up his mind that he would definitely hire a DWI lawyer to represent him in the local court. Something else, however, took place after he had talked to his dad. Lawrence finally began to realize the serious nature of DUI arrests and, as a consequence, he made up his mind that from this point forward, he would always drink responsibly so that he would never again have to suffer through another DUI arrest.

His dad smiled at Lawrence and mentioned the following: "Lawrence,it took me until I was fifty years old to realize what you just told me. I am really proud of you." This did wonders for his self worth and so Lawrence thanked his dad and then said, "if I can always drink in moderation, I will never have to hire a drunk driving lawyer again!"

There was, however, one thing that neither Lawrence nor his dad thought about, namely, if Lawrence is manifesting any alcohol abuse signs or maybe if he is displaying any of the common signs of alcoholism. Indeed, if Lawrence is exhibiting any alcohol signs that point to alcohol abuse or alcohol addiction, more likely than not he will need alcohol treatment.

In all honesty, Lawrence may be mandated by the court to get treatment for his drinking behavior. The good news, conversely, is that whatever it takes to address his excessive and hazardous drinking, it appears that Lawrence will be highly motivated to do the "right" thing.
